Last year, Xiaomi released the Redmi 8 series which is an entry-level series with the budget Redmi 8A. These phones are still fresh in the market and are selling like hotcakes especially in India. However, Redmi already has it’s succeeding (Redmi 9) series in works. We can expect that the will come with a better spec sheet while keeping the price on the lower side.
Redmi’s plan for the new year is to chase away more customers from Samsung, Huawei, and Co. in the lower price ranges. With relatively simple Android smartphones, Redmi has been offering good devices for little money for years.

REDMI ANNOUNCES POWERFUL ANDROID SMARTPHONES – REDMI 9?
According to Xiaomi VP and general manager of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, “Redmi has always been synonymous with POWER!”. This seems to point to the upcoming Redmi 9 series. Recall that it is the Redmi single-digit series is synonymous with power.
The Redmi 8 series comes with a huge 5000 mAh battery and this is one of the selling points of this series. According to Kumar Jain, this year, Redmi will offer “Power-packed phones”, “Powerful processors” and “ Powerful user experience”. This means that the Redmi 9 will either match the Redmi 8 series 5000 mAh battery or surpass it.

According to a recent leak, the Redmi 9 will come with an unannounced MediaTek Helio G70. Going by the name of the silicon wafer, it will be in the same gaming series SoCs like the G90 and G90T.
That means the upcoming Redmi 9 might perform much better than the current generation Redmi 8 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 439. The report also adds the phone will come in a 4GB + 64GB storage configuration and could arrive in other variants as well. Also, it will have a larger footprint than Redmi 8 which already features a 6.22-inches HD+ dot notch display.
