Google Chrome is the most popular browser in the world and that too by some distance. Latest figures suggest that Chrome’s market share stands at more than 67% whereas the others — Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge — are in second, third and fourth spot respectively. Still, others are trying to cut the gap, especially Microsoft with its Edge browser, which is now based on the same Chromium platform as Chrome.
Perhaps that’s why Google is ‘warning’ Edge users. According to a report by 9to5Google, Microsoft Edge users who are trying to download Chrome extensions are getting a warning by Google. Any time a user on Edge, tries to download any extension, Google gives a warning message which reads, “Google recommends switching to Chrome to use extensions securely.”
Do note that if you are using Edge and see this ‘warning’ then don't be scared as it doesn't affect installing Chrome extensions. As of now, there have been no risks that have been highlighted on downloading theses extensions or any other security warning about using Edge.
Google and Microsoft have some 'history' about such warnings. In 2018, Microsoft too had 'warned' Window 10 users about downloading Chromw on their machines.

Google too has blocked some of its service to work on Microsoft Edge.
Google's gaming service, Stadia, is completely blocked on Microsoft Edge.
In other Microsoft-related news, it seems like the US giant hadn's given a makeover to how Windows icons looked. Now it seems like users will get a more'modern' look and feel. According to an official blog post by Microsoft, all the icons on Windows 10 are getting a redesign. "We started with the Office icons, and now we're moving forward with updating the icons in Windows 10, starting with the built-in apps like Alarms & Clock, Calculator, Mail, and Calender," states the blog post.
