Samsung Galaxy Fold has finally been launched after months of delays. The company officially announced the release of its first fold-able smartphone on Thursday, September 5. The Fold will go on sale in Korea starting September 6. It will also be launched in markets like France, Germany, Singapore, UK and the US soon after. While India hasn't been mentioned in the press release, the Galaxy Fold is expected to come to the country and has been listed on the Samsung India website for a while now.

Samsung will release and 5G version of the Galaxy Fold in select countries as well. The Galaxy Fold comes in Cosmos Black and Space Silver colors. It is one of the first commercially launched fold-able smartphones as it sports a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex display that folds inwards to close the device like a clam-shell. This is a Dynamic AMOLED display with an unusual 4.2:3 aspect ratio.

The flexible display and hinge design met with some issues earlier this year, which caused Samsung to postpone the launch of the Galaxy Fold by several months. The company says that the design and construction have been improved so those issues don't repeat themselves.

There is also a secondary 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display on the face of the cover of the Galaxy Fold. It also comes with a number of cameras - a 10MP selfie camera on the cover, a 10MP + 8MP dual camera setup on top of the inner flexible screen, and a triple camera setup on the back that includes a 12MP main camera with variable aperture, 16MP ultra wide-angle camera and 12MP telephoto lens.

The Galaxy Fold is powered by a Snapdragon 855 chip-set paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The India variant of the Galaxy Fold may feature an Exynos 9825 SoC, but this hasn't been confirmed just yet. The Fold also holds a 4,380 mAh battery that is split into two in order to allow the device to fold up.

One UI based on Android Pie has been customized to run seamlessly on both the large 7.3-inch squarish display and the smaller 4.6-inch screen. One UI for Galaxy Fold features a Multi-Active Window that allows you to run multiple at once for better multitasking. There is also a feature called App Continuity that lets you transition from shooting a video with the device closed to watching it on the large screen when you open the Fold.

Keeping in mind that some customers will look at the Galaxy Fold with some skepticism, Samsung says that the Galaxy Fold comes with exclusive access to Samsung experts and 24/7 support hub online or over the phone to help you with your Fold-based needs without any extra cost. The Galaxy Fold is supposed to be priced at USD 1,980 in the US, which means it is expected to launch in India at a cool Rs 1,40,000 as an approximate figure.
