Realme XT launch event started with the company's India CEO Madhav Sheth on the stage. Sheth began by talking about the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro sales so far. He revealed that the company has sold 1.2 lakh Realme 5 units and 1.3 lakh units of the Realme 5 Pro until now. He also said the Realme is now number 2 online brand in the country and its offline sales grew over 300 percent in Q2-August period. Realme now has 10 million users in the country.
Sheth also stated that the company is investing 300 crores in its manufacturing facilities to make sure there are enough units for sale during the Diwali festival season.
Madhav Sheth then moved to Realme XT, the company's first smartphone with a 64-megapixel primary camera. He invited Realme's Nidhi Bhatia to detail the smartphone.
According to Bhatia, the Realme XT is also the first phone from the company to sport the new ID design with Hyperbola Light Effect. The phone will be offered in Pearl White and Pearl Blue colours. It features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and the back. Additionally, the Realme XT comes with a 6.4-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display.
Bhatia then talked about the phone's 64-megapixel quad-camera setup. The phone uses Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor for the primary 64-megapixel camera. The main camera has f/1.8 aperture and support for electronic stablisation. The other three cameras are – an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/2.25), a 2-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4), and a 2-megapixel depth sensor (f/2.4). At the front, the Realme XT includes a 16-megapixel shooter, as a part of a waterdrop-style notch, with Sony IMX471 sensor and f/2.0 aperture. Bhatia then invited National Geographic's Aaron Huey to talk about the Realme XT camera and his experience of using it.
Bhatia came back to the stage to reveal more specifications of the phone. Realme XT includes an in-display fingerprint sensor and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 SoC. Additionally, there is up to 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB of onboard storage, and a 4,000mAh battery with 20W VOOC fast charging support. The company will be bundling a 20W charger in the box.
Further, Realme XT supports Dolby Atmos and runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6 on top. ColorOS 6 includes dark mode with redesigned system UI. Realme XT also includes Digital Wellbeing support.
Realme Power Bank, Realme Buds Wireless
Madhav Sheth then returned to the stage to talk about the new accessories that Realme is bringing to India. According to Sheth, Realme will release Iconic case for Realme XT at Rs. 399. The case goes on sale in October. The company is also launching its first power bank with 10,000mAh capacity in the country. The Realme Power Bank will support 18W fast charging with dual-output (USB-A/ USB-C). It will go on sale in September end at Rs. 1,299.
Realme is also bringing Realme Buds Wireless to the country. The neckband headphones will offer 12-hour battery life and pack 11.2mm bass boost driver, Bluetooth 5.0 support, and 3-button remote. Realme Buds Wireless will be sold in Orange, Green, and Black colours at Rs. 1,799. The Realme Buds Wireless are now on sale via Realme.com and Amazon for the next 24 hours.
Sheth also revealed the Android 10 update schedule for the existing Realme phones. The update will start rolling out in Q1 2020 with Realme 3 Pro, Realme 5 Pro, Realme X, and Realme XT being the first phones to get the update. Realme 3, Realme 5, and Realme 3i will get Android 10 in Q2 2020, followed by the update rollout for Realme 2 Pro in Q3 2020.
Realme XT price in India, sale date
Finally, Madhav Sheth announced the Realme XT price in India. The phone will start at Rs. 15,999 for the 4GB + 64GB model. The 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB variants of the phone will retail at Rs. 16,999 and Rs. 18,999. The first sale for the phone is scheduled for September 16 at 12pm (noon). The first 64,000 Realme XT buyers will free six-month one-time screen replacement. Additionally, the Realme XT buyers will get free Paytm First membership.
Additionally, Sheth revealed that the company will release a new phone called Realme XT 730G in December this year. The phone will be a variant of the Realme XT with Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC and 30W VOOC fast charging support. Rest of the specifications of the phone will be same as Realme XT.
