With this year’s Sony Xperia XZ3 (first impressions), we saw the Japanese giant willing to make a change in the design aspect of its smartphones. Now it seems that the brand will be bringing these aesthetics to its mid-range XA lineup. We’ve just got our first look at the Xperia XA 3 — successor to the Xperia XA2 (first impressions), unveiled in January this year — brought to us by noted leakster Onleaks. Along with 5K renders, there’s also a 360-degree video of the handset, showcasing the device from all angles.

The Sony Xperia XA3 will be a big step up over its predecessor in terms of design, as it’ll have thin bezels at the top and bottom. The rectangular chassis is still there though as is the side-mounted fingerprint reader. As per the report, the display size measures 5.9-inches diagonally and offers an 18:9 aspect ratio. While the resolution isn’t known, we can expect it to be the full HD+ resolution. The Xperia XA3 measures 155.7 x 68.3 x 8.4mm.

The rear has a dual-camera setup placed horizontally in the centre — a welcome change from the XA2, which shipped with a single primary shooter. There are power and shutter buttons too on the right side of the device. At the bottom, there’s a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone socket.

These are the details mostly related to the design though. As for the spec sheet, much is unknown still about the Sony Xperia XA3. However, considering the Xperia XA2 had a Snapdragon 630 SoC, we should see something above the SD630, like the Snapdragon 660 chipset powering its successor. Launch dates are unknown as well but we could be far off from it, as Sony traditionally launches these devices at the CES, which happens in January every year.
