Ever since Apple introduced the iPhone X with a notched display, Android counterparts too have been launching smartphones with notched display. And while Apple has a wider notch, which is consistent through the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models too, Android manufacturers have been trying different types of notches.
Xiaomi has implemented a wider notch, Huawei has a slightly smaller notch, where Oppo and Vivo have small, as well as waterdrop style notches. Now, the leaked render of Oppo R19 has surfaced on Weibo (via GizmoChina), and it shows off an in-display camera, making way for even more screen real estate, and thus delivering higher screen to body ratio. It is expected to come with a 6.4-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, 8GB of RAM and Snapdragon 710 SoC with an octa-core CPU.
The render also shows off an in-display fingerprint scanner, a glass back with gradient finish, dual cameras along with dual LED flash module. What’s more, the render also hints at March 2019 launch timeframe for the Oppo R19 smartphone. Until now, OnePlus has been borrowing its design elements from Oppo smartphones, and the upcoming OnePlus 6T is expected to come with Oppo R17, R17 Pro like design. Now, there is a possibility that the R19 may have laid the blueprint for OnePlus 7 design.
That being said, the OnePlus 6T will be launched on October 30, and OnePlus 7 may not launch until June next year, which is the usual refresh timeframe. Even if the company pushes the launch a couple of months early, that will still mean somewhere are April timeframe. Also, there were rumors that OnePlus may adopt triple rear camera setup, a pop-up selfie camera, and more. How many of these rumored features finally make it to the OnePlus 7 that remains to be seen.
