ZTE is truly back in business. Following the surprise unveiling of the ZTE Axon 9 Pro at IFA this year, they’ve now unveiled the ZTE Nubia Z18. It’s a near bezel-less smartphone with a small Essential Phone-esque notch, all powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. It’s claimed to have a 91.8% screen-to-body ratio with a tiny notch that only houses the front-facing camera.
Not only does the device look good, but it’s also powerful. As previously mentioned, you get the latest Snapdragon SoC on-board paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. You get 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable storage as well.
The edge-to-edge display is a 1080×2160 IPS LCD panel with a small chin. Flagship specifications generally call for a large enough battery too, which is the case here. The ZTE Nubia Z18 comes with a 3,450mAh battery that supports Qualcomm QuickCharge 4.0. “Neo Power Temperature Control” is also mentioned, though we don’t actually know what that is yet.
In terms of cameras, the selfie camera is a single 8MP shooter with a f/2.0 aperture. The dual camera setup on the back is composed of a 16MP shooter with a f/1.6 aperture and a 24MP shooter with a f/1.6 aperture as well.

The powerful camera hardware allows for portrait mode on both the front and back cameras, advanced scene recognition, and 960FPS slow-motion recording. While obviously camera hardware is important, the camera software is just as important. As such, we can’t really extrapolate anything from the hardware other than the fact that it has a lot of potential.
