Honor Magic 2 to feature display with highest screen-to-body-ratio on a smartphone yet: Report

Honor Magic 2 is now confirmed to flaunt a high-res AMOLED display, which would be a first for the company.

After the September 12 iPhone event, many companies mocked Apple for not introducing any revolutionary new tech on its iPhone XR, iPhone XS or the iPhone XS Max. Honor is the latest to join in by calling Apple’s new iPhones “mediocre”, and also reiterating the highlight feature of the
Honor Magic 2.

After the end of Apple’s event, the President of Honor smartphones, Zhao Ming, took to Weibo to write, “The new iPhones are mediocre and have an unexpected price for its features, and the industry needs some bold innovation.” Where in reply, Honor official Weibo account revealed that the Honor Magic 2 will feature an AMOLED display, and close to a whopping 100 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The Honor Magic 2 was revealed just ahead of IFA 2018 in Berlin. The smartphone features a ‘Magic Slide’ that is designed to give a comprehensive view of the screen without compromising on other practical functions. Similar to the Oppo Find X, the front camera on the Magic 2 will be hidden in the slider that will allow for the high screen-to-body ratio.

In addition to its revolutionary design, the Honor Magic 2 is also the first Honor smartphone to be powered by a Kirin 980 processor. It will also be bundled with a ‘Magic Charger’ that would give an output of 40W. In order to ensure even greater safety, the smartphone has 15 layers of protection. The phone can automatically identify the battery, cable, and charger to turn on the Super Charger only when all three items have been identified as safe.

In the first half of 2018, Honor registered a significant year-on-year increase of 150 percent in international sales outside China. After the recent launch of Honor 10 and Honor Play, the Honor Magic 2 promises the brand the goal of becoming one of the top five leading smartphone brands in the next three years.
