Xbox One owners will get a chance to play DayZ, Bohemia Interactive’s survival game set in a zombie-infested world, later this month. Bohemia will release an early access version of DayZ through Microsoft’s Xbox Game Preview program on Aug. 29, the developer announced at Gamescom today.

The stand-alone version of DayZ has been in early access on Steam since 2013. Earlier this month, Bohemia let Xbox One players into its closed preview testing program, giving a small number of players access to the game.

Bohemia signaled its intention to bring DayZ to Xbox One this year in a development update posted last December. The developer has been working on console versions of the game for years, and originally targeted PlayStation 4.

DayZ originally started as a mod for another Bohemia Interactive game, Arma 2. The game is an open-world survival simulation in which players must fight for survival by scavenging for food, water, weapons and supplies, all while contending with zombie-like enemies as well as hostile players.
