HTC U12 Life with Snapdragon 660, 4GB RAM Visits Geekbench Ahead of Launch on August 30

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC teased the launch of an upcoming smartphone under its U line last week. It is currently being speculated that the company could finally unveil the U12 Life at the launch event on August 30th. Ahead of its official unveiling, the upcoming U12 Life has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark database, revealing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and 4GB of RAM. The U12 Life will be a direct successor to the U11 Life from last year, offering a few key features of the flagship U12 Plus at a significantly lower price tag.

The U12 Life has appeared on the Geekbench listing as the HTC 2Q6E1. While some recent rumors had suggested the smartphone will be powered by a 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor under the hood, the Geekbench listing suggests that it will instead run on a more powerful Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood. In terms of memory, the HTC U12 Life will come equipped with 4GB of RAM. Moving on to the actual performance numbers, the prototype managed a score of 1,343 points in the single-core test and 4,897 points in the multi-core test. In terms of software, the smartphone will be running on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box, just as you would expect.


HTC U12 Life: Rumored Specifications, Features
Going by the previous leaks and rumors, the HTC U12 Life is going to sport a 6-inch display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. As confirmed by the Geekbench listing, the smartphone will be running on a Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot is expected to be present, allowing for further expansion by up to 256GB. At the rear, HTC U12 Life is expected to have a 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup with phase-detection autofocus and support for 4K Ultra HD video recording. For selfies, the smartphone will feature a single 13MP resolution camera with an LED flash. Fueling the HTC U12 Life is rumored to be a 3600mAh capacity battery. The smartphone is also rumored to come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and might also offer Face Unlock support. Some rumors have suggested the HTC U12 Life will be part of the Android One program, which means it will launch with stock Android 8.1 Oreo OS out of the box and could be updated to Android 9 Pie before the end of the year.
