OnePlus 6 users reportedly complaining of screen flickering issue after OxygenOS update

The adaptive brightness feature on OnePlus 6 is said to be causing the screen flickering issue.

Some of the OnePlus 6 users are reporting screen flickering issue on their device even after the last update. The issue was first appeared after last month’s update to OxygenOS 5.1.8. More recently, OnePlus had pushed out the update to version 5.1.9, but it did not fix the problem.

The OnePlus 6’s adaptive brightness feature is said to be causing the screen flickering issue. With adaptive brightness enabled on OnePlus 6, the screen flickers under very bright sunlight, as reported by various OnePlus 6 users on Reddit and OnePlus forums (via Android Police). More specifically, the issue is said to occur with the maximum brightness for OnePlus 6 devices used mostly outdoors.

It is reported to kick off the flickering on OnePlus 6 with a slight movements by the person holding. The issue doesn’t impact functionality in any way.

Also, those experienced the issue say that it is more noticeable with content that is mostly white, and also content with very vivid colors. The issue is not seen at lower brightness levels, so in the meantime, you can always disable the adaptive brightness feature if you are also experiencing the same issue.

OnePlus is yet to acknowledge the issue officially and provide a fix. The report notes that the company has reached out to at least one of the Reddit user and have requested a log with a recording of the screen. Considering, the issue will now be recognized, we hope that OnePlus’ next OxygenOS update will resolve the issue.
