Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 competes with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Oppo's Realme 1
Asus has announced a surprise sale for Zenfone Max Pro M1, its mid-range contender to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro and Oppo’s Realme 1. Asus says the surprise sale is being held because of the popular demand for the handset on Flipkart. While the company holds a flash sale every week on Thursday, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 will be available for purchase today at 12 noon exclusively on Flipkart.
T0 recall, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 was launched in April and has emerged as one of the most popular devices in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment. The smartphone was announced in three different storage variants but only two variants were initially made available for purchase. During today’s surprise sale, Asus says all the three variants will be available for purchase. The popularity of Zenfone Max Pro M1 can be owed to its premium hardware and a price that undercuts Xiaomi’s offering in the segment.

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Specifications and features
The ZenFone Max Pro M1 is the first device launching as part of a new strategic partnership with Flipkart. It features a 5.99-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and taller 18:9 aspect ratio. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, the same chipset also found on Redmi Note 5 Pro. It comes in three storage variants – a 32GB storage variant with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage variant with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
All the three models feature dual rear camera setup but the configuration varies according to variants. The 3GB and 4GB RAM variants feature a combination of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual cameras at the back and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter at the front. The 6GB RAM variant gets an updated dual camera module with 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel image sensors and a brighter 16-megapixel selfie camera. The front camera also supports face unlock mechanism but it is less reliable than the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
While Asus has matched Xiaomi in terms of specifications, it is software that makes it a winner. With Zenfone Max Pro M1, Asus has ditched its own ZenUI in favor of stock Android experience. The smartphone has consistently received software update and timely updates to latest version of Google’s monthly security patch. In our tests, we found that there is not much difference between the 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants in terms of performance.
The Zenfone Max Pro M1 also packs a larger 5,000mAh battery compared to the 4,000mAh battery pack found under the hood of Redmi Note 5 Pro. Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 starts at Rs 10,999 and will be available in grey and black colors. The smartphone is ideal for those looking a premium Android experience at budget price.
